Book 3 of the Piano Teacher series · Over 60 reader reviews

You want to play Für Elise. You find the sheet music, you look at it, and you put it away again.

That is the problem this book solves.

Every piece here comes in three versions. Start with the one that has the note names written in, move to the one with just finger numbers, and finish on the original score. Same piece, same page layout — only the help changes.

By the time you reach the third version, you are reading real sheet music. You just did not notice it happening.

THE FIVE PIECES

· Prélude in C major — Johann Sebastian Bach
· Gymnopédie No. 1 — Erik Satie
· Für Elise in A minor — Ludwig van Beethoven
· Nocturne in C# minor — Frédéric Chopin
· Marche Turque — Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Bach, Satie, Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart — the pieces people actually recognize, arranged in the order that makes sense to learn them.

HOW THE THREE VERSIONS WORK

LETTERS & NUMBERS (ABC/123)
Every note carries its name and its finger number. Red for the left hand, blue for the right. You can play from the first day, even if you are still learning to read.

SHEET WITH NUMBERS (123)
The note names come off. Finger numbers stay. You are reading the staff now, with a safety net.

ORIGINAL MUSIC SCORE
The piece as it was written. No annotations, nothing added.

BEFORE EACH PIECE

A page on the music itself — when it was written, what makes it difficult, what to listen for.

Beside it, ten practice tips: where to start slow, how to break it down, when to put the hands together, how to handle the finger transitions. They appear before every piece on purpose, so you never have to flip back to find them.

PRINTED THE WAY A PRACTICE BOOK SHOULD BE

Spiral-bound, so it opens completely flat on a music stand and stays there. Both hands free — which matters more here than anywhere, because these pieces need both.

Full color throughout. Printed on heavy, bright paper that takes a pencil mark and survives a year of daily use. The covers are 110 lb card, front and back, each protected by a clear laminate sheet.

This spiral edition is made in small runs and is not sold in bookstores.

WHO IT IS FOR

Beginners who are tired of practice exercises and want to play something real. Returning players who once knew these pieces and want them back. Adults teaching themselves, and students working alongside a teacher.

You do not need to read music fluently. That is what the three versions are for.
